FYW- Response to Lead Blog Post #12 (Impractical Joker's)
Impractical Jokers is a hilarious show that seems to incorporate both the superiority and incongruity theories in some way or another. I have to admit watching the “Stalk and Text” made me laugh, especially when they sent the guy a text that said, “Just get my pretzel, fool.” In this clip, there was superiority evident because Sal, Q, and Joe are making Murr walk and around and make a fool of himself by appearing to be a stalker when he texts random people. Sal, Q, and Joe show superiority over M urr because they are in control of the entire situation and Murr is the one who looks foolish. It also seems that relief theory could be present, except for the fact that in this scene the relieving part of the situation is never shown. When I was done watching it, there was still built up tension because Murr never got to explain to the guy that he was part of a television show that plays tricks on people.
